The goal of laser hair removal is permanent reduction of hair. The FDA defines permanent hair reduction, such as reduction in hair density over a period of time equal to one cycle of hair growth. Interestingly, there is no procedure available that provides laser permanent hair full removal.The clear targets a black pigment called melanin, which is produced in the bulb, or the deep part of the hair follicle in the anagen phase. The laser creates heat in the pigment, thus destroying the cells that produce melanin in the bulb and the rest of the follicle.
